Online Workshop: Using Emotional Intelligence (EQ) in the Classroom

19 September

As part of our Continuing Professional Development for our teachers, three of our BibiNogs’ teachers, namely Ms Haryani, Ms Lisa Li and Ms Candice Ong joined with 100 participants in an online workshop titled “Using Emotional Intelligence (EQ) in the Classroom” on 7 and 8 September 2020 organised by the Principals Academy. The online workshop presented by Mrs Belinda Charles, Dean of Principals Academy, helps to equip teachers with the EQ skills which will give them an understanding of both self and others. It will enrich their teacher-student relationship, give them tools to teach character education, and help them create a productive workplace. This course will enable teachers to identify and understand emotions and the patterns they take as well as navigating a path between conflicting emotions while strengthening values.

Parenting Webinar: Mental Fitness for Parents and Families by Dr Paula Robinson

14 September

BibiNogs in partnership with Principals Academy organised a live webinar titled “Mental Fitness for Parents and Families” on the 29 August 2020 Saturday. The webinar was attended by over 100 parents and friends from Australia, China, India, the Philippines, and Singapore. The speaker was Dr Paula Robinson, a registered, consulting Psychologist, speaker and Managing Director of the Positive Psychology Institute and Applied Positive Psychology Learning Institute (APPLI) specialising in the science, application and integration of traditional Psychology and Positive Psychology. During the webinar, Dr Robinson provided the attendees with evidence-based activities that can help their family to thrive at home, school and work.

What Our Attendees Said…

  1. This was an excellent seminar. My daughter was sitting beside me throughout, we learnt together. I think this seminar not only benefit parents, so perhaps the school can consider offering this to the students in school.
  2. It was fantastic! Congratulations for organising it and Dr Paula for her generosity and experience to make it so clear and engaging. The short activity from Smiling Mind/Head Space was super!
  3. An insightful and effective reminder of having a positive mindset Thank you so much for all the very practical advice, can’t wait to apply them!
  4. This has been a truly enriching and insightful talk. Thanks very much for generously sharing your thoughts and expertise, Dr, Robinson!
  5. Probably can we have more short sessions like this which allow busy folks to be able to set aside pockets of time to attend instead of one whole day, which might be info overload? So many wonderful ideas that will be incredibly useful in my work with children
  6. Paula – that was really practical advice that I can transfer to my parenting and teaching.
  7. Thank you so much, Dr Robinson, this talk is fantastic and so useful to my husband and me!
  8. Thank you for sharing Paula! This is great stuff for parents and teachers. And now practise, practise, practise!

An Evening With Joyce & Robert: Thursday, 4th July 2019

24 June

Growing up has always been a bitter sweet and challenging journey for both the child and the parents. When the time has come for the little ones to flap their wings and fly away from the nest, parents are often the ones feeling more nervous and worried about what lies ahead for their little one.

“Will he be able to take care of himself?”
“Is he able to listen and follow instructions?”
“Have I spent enough time to prepare him for primary education?”
“Have I given him too much screen time?”
“Can he catch up in the class?”
“Will he get bullied by his peers?”

The mental struggle is real.

It is thus, the core topic to be addressed in the “Evening with Joyce & Robert”.

Join us this special evening with our two distinguished speaker, Joyce Lim and Robert Pereira, who will be there to support your parenting worries. Empower your mind with the knowledge of how to transit your child smoothly from pre-school to primary school education and have a deeper understanding about the effects of gadgets on education and on the psyche of children.

In hope that when the time has come, YOU, are ready.

Our Colourful Deepavali Celebration

12 November

In early November, we had a very colourful and bright Deepavali celebration! The children savoured different traditional Indian snacks, moulded salt dough into lamps, and had a blast learning Indian dance moves! Way to go, children!

Teachers’ Training: Multi-Domain and Play-Based Learning in Action

17 December

On 1st December, BibiNogs teachers gathered by the beach for an interactive teacher training, professional sharing as well as team-building fun and games. The session showed what hands-on and play-based learning can look like, and demonstrated how meaningful (and fun) learning can be when activities are multi-domain and multi-sensory!

The day ended with a BBQ-by-the-beach. Teachers’ minds and stomachs were filled, and they are ready to make a wave in the new year!
